GENERAL INFORMATION
HUASCARAN- YUNGAY PROVINCE - PERU
YUNGAY is a Peruvian province, with
beautiful landscapes, which were inmortalized by Italian naturalistic sage Antonio Raimondi with
the qualification ¡NEC PLUS
ULTRA¡, it is also considered the capital of the
highest tropical mountain range of the world: The White
mountain range. The Province of Yungay occupies part of Huaylas Valley, Conchucos Valley (Yanama), the
coast of Ancash(Quillo) and is located at north of the
City of Lima, capital of the Republica of Peru, South
America; between km 444 to km 468.
The inhabitants of the province of Yungay, conform towns
with an history and a millenarian culture that have their
origins in nerly the beginnings of the civilization, whose
vestiges of 10.600 BC in the Guitarrero Cave"
demonstrate that this land was the cradle of
agriculture in America. Since thousands years ago, the
ancestral yungainos saw often bloom, disappear and
reconstruct again their cities. The land fertility, the
benevolent climate and the natural beauty of the
territory caused that their inhabitants faced
earthquakes and avalanches that time and time again
destroyed the towns of the province, but the Yungainos
always was there, challenging before the natural, proud
disasters by to have been born in this one fertile and
beautiful land, reconstructing their cities with the
high forehead always watching snow-covered mounts their eter
partners. They are dumb witnesses of which
it was YUNGAY in the past, the vestiges of towns in Queushu, Marccayoc, Etzahuain, Huansakay, Jato Viejo,
Collo-Jirca and others (all with greater antiquity of
1.500 years), the Town of Ancash (1725), Ranrahirca
(1962) and recently disappeared city of Yungay (1970).
Passed the tragedy of the 31,05,1970,
the Province of Yungay has recovered thanks to the
strength of the survivors and the iron union of its
Districts, those that together conform a true paradise
admired by thousands of tourists, who find variety,
climates costumary, ecological floors, and places of
incomparable beauty and majesty.
