UNA DESPEDIDA



Cuando el itinerario de mi destino
señaló el momento de mi partida,
mi alma tembló...y lloró en el camino
por el recuerdo inolvidable de mi vida.

¡Yungay! me voy,
y mi corazón queda contigo,
porque siempre halagaste
la izquierda de este pecho
que gozó con las frescas caricias
de tus vientos, campos y palmeras,
queda contigo,
porque fuiste llamarada de mi alma
que por un tiempo iluminó
el sendero azul de mi destino

¡Yungay! te quedas,
pero llevo tu imagen conmigo
para poder contemplarte eternamente
y sentirte muy hondo
como la bendición de Dios hecho paisaje,
ese paisaje inmenso
donde siempre fui dichoso;
paisaje verde, azul y blanco
que latirá conmigo permanentemente.
